The UBFree Journey
UBFree’s journey began in 2011 in New Zealand, after the founders realised an increasing number of people (including themselves) were suffering from allergy like symptoms – nasal congestion, heart palpitations and over-hearting after drinking wine. Not to mention an increasing amount of nasty headaches even when drinking in moderation.
Research determined that these symptoms were caused by the sulphites added to wine to preserve it – and not the wine itself. But the only real option provided for sufferers of this intolerance – was to abstain. So, not liking this solution, over an 18 month period the UBFree Formula was developed and tested in the world-class New Zealand Calthorn Institute, with the development overseen by an award winning food scientist.
UBFree used only natural, 100% organic ingredients – taking advantage of their availability in the pristine New Zealand environment, an area well known for its nature beauty, boutique vineyards and award winning wines.
As the intention was to ensure that the taste of the wine was not altered, the final stages of the product development involved taste testing the product by an Oenologist (a specialist in the study of wine). His comments were” It’s like you have taken an old flabby wine and made it young again. The taste is brighter, fresher and the tannins have become smoother … the fruit notes have become more dominant.” In other words, UBFree has found a way to instantly cellar young wine.
The final patented formula not only effectively reduces the sulphites in red and white wines, it also enhances the flavour of younger sulphite-heavy wines.
